Drinking a glass of orange juice every day has long been known to be a healthy practice.
Drinking orange juice doesn't mean that it can cure your ailments. But now new evidence shows that it's benefits are more extensive. High pressure is not good for anybody. People with clogged artery has this problem that can lead to heart disease and stroke. High blood pressure is the major contributor to dangerous disease in the country. It can cause blindness and severe damage to the kidney. Even if your blood pressure is 120/80 you still need to keep an eye on it. You can take Blood Pressure drug but there is a big difference if you will have a good diet.
One orange juice consists of more than 60 flavonoids and 170 different phytochemicals that have anti-inflammatory properties that are proven to have a strong effect. Orange juice contains a flavonoid called hesperidin. The health of the delicate cells that line the blood vessel can improve by flavonoids. Hesperidin improves blood vessel function and helps lower a person's risk of heart disease. In a study by the Human Nutrition Unit-INRA in France, it was discovered that two glasses of orange juice per day could significantly lower diastolic blood pressure (the second number in a blood pressure reading) and improve blood-vessel function. Study subjects were overweight, but otherwise healthy men age 51 to 63.
Different ways how to turn your plain orange juice into the healthier and juicier way:
- A tomato
- Half Cucumber, and
- An orange
Simply cut the tomato and cucumber in half, then peel the orange. Squeeze them in a drinking glass or use a blender.
Carrot and Pepper Orange
- Red pepper
- Two carrots, and
- 2 Oranges
Discard the pepper stem and peel the oranges. Use a blender to juice them including the two carrots. Viola!
Grapefruit and Orange
- 1 Orange and 2 Grapefruits
All you just need is to peel them both and juice them together and ready to serve!
Apple and Orange
- An Apple and at least 3 Oranges
- 1 piece of thumb-sized Ginger
Simply remove the core of an Apple, peel the oranges and juice them all in a blender including the small ginger.
The researchers say lowering diastolic pressure by just three or four points could translate into a 20 percent reduction of heart disease. Even if you drink one glass of orange juice per day instead of two, you will have beneficial effects.
