How does the stem-cell-cytokine approach actually work?
The hair follicle is a regenerative organ governed by hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs) in the bulge region. Each new growth cycle begins when these stem cells receive chemical signals (Wnt-pathway ligands, FGF, IGF, VEGF) from the dermal papilla. The cytokine-signaling approach supports the follicle’s chemical signaling environment so the natural cycle progresses cleanly. What is thiotaine and why is it in MD Hair™ Follicle Energizer?
Thiotaine (chemical name L-ergothioneine) is a mushroom-derived antioxidant that humans cannot synthesize. The human body builds a dedicated cellular transporter (OCTN1, gene SLC22A4) for this one molecule — concentrated in tissues under high oxidative stress, including the hair follicle. In MD Hair™ Follicle Energizer, thiotaine sits in the protective antioxidant layer, neutralizing reactive oxygen species that would otherwise damage the bulge stem cells and dermal papilla. How long until I see results from MD Hair™?
The hair growth cycle is approximately 12–16 weeks. Most users notice early scalp comfort and reduced shedding within 4–6 weeks. Visible density changes typically appear at 3–4 months. The full assessment window for any cycle-modulating approach is approximately 6 months of consistent daily use. Be skeptical of products promising dramatic results in weeks — the underlying biology does not support those timelines.
